Festival season is one of my FAVORITE things about living in Chicago, and as the 2016 festivals come up, I thought I’d share my Top 5 street fests throughout the city! Take a look at some of the most delicious and entertaining fests here:
Located in the heart of Lakeview, the Belmont-Sheffield Music Fest is one of the most entertaining nights out on a summer night. Dozens of bands, including some of Chicago’s most exciting cover bands play nonstop on multiple stages, and you’ll hear everyone–I mean everyone–belting out the lyrics to “I Want It That Way” and more. Don’t miss the fried Snickers bar either…*insert heart eye emoji here*
This seems like a no-brainer, but no Best Fest list would be complete without mentioning Ribfest! Head on up to Northcenter and feast on slabs from dozens upon dozens of rib joints from across the Midwest. Come hungry and don’t wear white!
Got burgers? Roscoe Village Burger Fest does! Nearly a half mile of some of the best burgers Chicago has to offer (trust me on this…I’ve eaten most of Chicago’s burgers!) Taste sliders from dozens of burger joints and judge your fave. Pro tip: take the top bun off each slider you have–you’ll get full REALLY quickly otherwise!
You guys. 200 beers. 100 breweries. Buckingham Fountain. Bring a bottle of water and a pretzel necklace with you and have some of the best beers you’ve ever tasted with Chicago’s beautiful scenery in the background. The food options at Ale Fest are delicious, and include everything from empanadas to pizza to burgers. While you’re at it, take a literal mustache ride! Yeah, I said it.
Take a moment to appreciate the creative talent that lines Randolph Street during the West Loop Art Fair. Painters, jewelry makers, sculptors, designers and more are on hand with some beautiful work for sale; you really can’t beat a relaxing walk with a glass of sangria and some wonderful bands performing–not to mention an on-site photographer ready to capture every moment!
