Your Guide to Chicago’s Holiday-est Must-Dos

fb_img_15399781536166337167334323589276Halloween is officially over, and you know what that means – it’s time to gear up for the holiday season!

Chicago is a mecca for all things holiday – I mean, we definitely have the right weather for it! But with dozens of options to celebrate the holiday months, how do you choose what to do?

From skating to light shows, Chicago’s holiday events are some of the most fun and surprisingly most inexpensive ways to get out and experience Chicago in all of it’s festive glory. Check out my favorite ways to ring in the holidays in the city:

Grab your gluwein and immerse yourself in Christmas the German way! Now at two locations – the original is in Daley Plaza, and a newer version is just outside Wrigley Field – the Christkindlmarket offers spiced wine (gluwein), a variety of food and candy, craft booths to get some shopping done, and of course, a huge Christmas tree!

Skating at Millennium Park

Nothing says winter like ice skating, and nothing says winter in Chicago more than skating in Millennium Park! Rent a pair of skates (or bring your own!) and take a few laps in the heart of downtown Chicago. Dress warm!

Taste multiple beers at Brewlights, a Lincoln Park Zoo event at the beginning of December – it’s the perfect way to check out the annual ComEd ZooLights as well!

It’s free to see the gorgeous light display (set to music!) while bopping around the zoo. ZooLights is the perfect date night, girls night, or friend night and always a fun way to spend the holiday season.

Magnificent Mile Lights Festival

Ring in the holiday season with the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival! From GIANT inflatable snowmen to local entertainment and even a celebrity appearance or two, you’ll enjoy this bright and exciting spectacle – and hey, you may even meet Dee Snider!
